Maybe it was the chicken club I had for lunch. Could’ve been the tons of sweets I had last night. I really don’t know what it was but it decided to exact it’s revenge upon me with an ambush that couldn’t have been better planned if it tried.
I had a sales call out in the middle of nowhere today and was leaving to head back to the office when suddenly, something didn’t feel quite right. I felt what I think must be the feeling soda bottles feel when they’ve been shaken with all the vigor their offender can muster…. and I was about to blow.
I was driving as cautiously as I could (sure I was), looking to the left and to the right, and finally, there it was… a service station/restaurant combo.
I whipped into the parking lot and pulled around to the side to park. With all the power of a gazelle leaping to escape the jaws of it’s predator, I sprang from the driver’s seat and dashed for the front door.
Suddenly remembering the dignity I had left, I thought to myself that perhaps I shouldn’t run through the store, so I slowed down to a walk.
Of course, the rest rooms are on the OTHER SIDE of the store, and it’s a BIG store. Eventually, nature prevailed over my dignity, and my pace quickened to almost a sprint. Finally!
I burst open the door and there it was…
The lid to the toilet was standing up, as if to say, “All you have to do is to put me down and your relief awaits.”
A prayer sprang from my lips, but, instead of a prayer of thanksgiving, what came out was surprising, even for me.
“Lord, please let the toilet seat be clean!”
I am happy to report, that apparently, the rest room had been cleaned just prior to my arrival. Obviously, God knew this was going to happen before I did and was providing for the prayer I was about to pray. Well, maybe, maybe not. All I know is that I was thankful for this small miracle.
My Question: What would you do?
